This high-end development in the Smithfield area of London comprises a hotel by Intercontinental’s new brand Indigo, an underground vaulted restaurant, apartments, office and a gym.
XCO2’s energy strategy includes the connection to a district heating network and a number of efficiency and passive design measures which, when combined, will reduce carbon emissions by 60%. Careful sizing of loads and storage was critical to reduce the capital investments.
XCO2 worked closely with the design team to incorporate an environmental and MEP strategy for a tight urban site with considerable basement area, which presents significant challenges in ventilation and passive design. The result was efficient services that deliver the level of quality expected in a development of this level.
