We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Building Services Engineer to join our growing team of engineers and environmental design consultants at our Central London office in Farringdon.  The position will work and lead on the mechanical design of multiple XCO2 projects which include: multi-residential, commercial and community projects in the UK and low carbon Hotels and Resorts in the Tropics.

A Senior Engineer at XCO2 should have a proven track record in leading projects from inception to completion. They must have demonstrated technical competence in Mechanical design including, HVAC, low carbon systems and public health and maintain a general understanding of all disciplines of building services including, but not limited to, Electrical Systems, BMS and BEMS.


  • Minimum of BEng in Mechanical engineering discipline
  • Minimum of 5 years professional experience as a design engineer
  • Ideally Chartered or able to demonstrate active progression towards Chartership


  • Demonstrate from experience, the delivery of projects from inception through to completion
  • Able to manage an internal design team (i.e. CAD, electrical, mechanical) on projects successfully
  • Capable, through experience, of managing a number of projects at a time
  • Possess good commercial awareness
  • Ability to generate leads from existing and new relationships
  • Show knowledge and interest in low carbon design and innovation
  • Demonstrate ability to mentor, nurture and lead junior members of the team
  • Set out resource plans for all of your projects
  • Set out and work to commercial plans for your projects, i.e. fee schedules against key milestones
  • Assign tasks to internal team members
  • Quality and Technical Reviews of information issued
  • Set monthly sales targets for your projects and map out a plan for delivery including:
    • Invoicing target
    • Monthly resourcing plans
    • Prioritisation of key projects and resources
  • Ensuring engineering designs are in accordance with the client’s brief and project requirements
  • Maintain good technical knowledge of the industry and relevant building services design and industry standards
  • Responsible as a direct line manager to junior staff whilst taking an active part in their development


  • Preparation of work plans for projects including tasks, milestone dates, resourcing and billing
  • Tracking of project work conducted by other team members
  • Ensure delivery of work on a weekly basis as planned
  • Ensure junior member’s follow company procedures and standards at all time
  • Attend weekly team meeting
  • Attend weekly and monthly resourcing meetings
