Located in Whitechapel, the Jubilee Street scheme encompasses a new residential development and the refurbishment of 1960s former Council offices.
A new six storey building will provide 37 residential units, ranging from one bedroom flats to four bedroom duplexes, whilst the office portion of the scheme involves the refurbishment of the existing two storey office to include a mezzanine and an extension to provide a third storey to the building. The extension will allow for additional amenity space as well as accommodating photovoltaic panels, specified to generate renewable energy and reduce the carbon output of the development.
XCO2 were appointed to provide the MEP concept design, energy and sustainability statements, and multiple environmental assessments to support the planning application. A challenging surrounding area, which includes a Grade II listed pub, resulted in some particularly demanding environmental assessments which were carried out by the XCO2 team.
The project received unanimous planning approval from the London Borough of Tower Hamlets in February 2019.
