The Greenwich Millenium Village (GMV) is the first of the Government’s Millennium Communities which sits at the southern of the Greenwich Peninsula and will comprise in total of 2,700 homes, commercial and retail space.
GMV is the largest regeneration project of its kind to be undertaken in London which will provide a community with a village within the city. Close access to the River Thames, vast amenity space, an ecology park, ponds, schools, healthcare facilities, shops and the O2 Arena make it a great place for communities to settle in a sustainable environment.
XCO2 were part of the winning team in a design competition for Phases 3, 4 and 5 which includes 1,746 homes and is currently under construction. The winning team was led by Jestico and Whiles Architects, and also included Peter Barber Architects, Studio54 Architects, Whitelaw Turkington Landscape Architects and Sandy Brown Acoustic Consultants. The winning team went on to submit a successful planning application which had to meet the very stringent environmental targets which the team demonstrated in the Environmental Statement.
XCO2 were responsible for developing a site wide energy and sustainability strategy whilst carrying out a suite of environmental assessments as part of the environmental impact assessment (EIA) including, daylight, sunlight and overshadowing and microclimate and wind assessment.
The development is now on site, where XCO2 continue to provide energy and sustainability consultancy to address planning conditions and meet sustainability certification under CEEQUAL and Code for Sustainable Homes.
