We are thrilled to announce that the Carpenter’s Estate Masterplan has been shortlisted for an NLA Award in the Masterplans and Area Strategies category. This exciting project, located next to the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, represents one of London’s most ambitious regeneration plans.
For nearly two decades, proposals for redevelopment have been in motion. The masterplan will deliver over 2000 high-quality homes across fifteen plots, with 50% designated as genuinely affordable. The plan also introduces new infrastructure and community spaces to support the growing population.
XCO2 is providing M&E and environmental services for the scheme, working in collaboration with Populo Living and Newham Council. Our involvement includes masterplan-level services as well as project-level delivery for various phases. A key part of the project is Phase 1A—the refurbishment of the existing James Riley Point tower, which will deliver 132 new social rent homes, a community centre, and sports facilities.
This £1 billion, resident-led redevelopment is part of a broader legacy for Stratford, with 73% of residents voting in favour of the next phase in an independent ballot.
Well done to the design team which includes Proctor & Matthews Architects, Metropolitan Workshop, Tibbalds, CampbellReith and LDA Design.
