SENIOR MECHANICAL ENGINEER (LONDON)

THE ROLE

We’re looking for a Senior Mechanical Building Services Engineer with a passion for providing complete, low carbon, energy solutions.

The team works on a range of core disciplines across residential, hospitality, commercial, and public sectors including mechanical and electrical engineering services, integrated energy design and dynamic modelling. The company’s services are provided for projects in and outside of the UK which brings a variety of challenges on very interesting and high profile projects.

The Senior Engineer will possess a minimum of 6 years’ experience as a design engineer. The candidate will be mechanically biased. Day to day responsibilities will include:

  • Oversee a number of projects at a time
  • Oversee and demonstrate the delivery of mechanical design aspects of projects from inception through to completion
  • Responsibility for design, commercial and financial management, and resourcing for the projects under your control
  • Set out and work to commercial plans for your projects, i.e. fee schedules against key milestones
  • Assign tasks to internal team members and set weekly and monthly resourcing plans for the projects under your control
  • Ensuring mechanical engineering designs are in accordance with the client’s brief and project requirements
  • Develop, nurture and maintain progression of more junior mechanical engineers within your team as they progress in their careers
  • Technical and QA reviews of mechanical design packages and ensure full coordination with electrical counterparts
  • Maintain good technical knowledge of the industry and relevant building services design and industry standards
  • Responsible for ensuring a clear line of command and mentorship for the electrical engineers
  • Ability to delegate and gain best output from the intermediate and junior engineer’s support
  • Possess good commercial awareness on project fees and the cost to deliver design services ensuring work is delivered within budget
  • Possess good technical knowledge of the industry and relevant building services design, industry standards and capable of incorporating those into any project
  • Maintain good client and design team relationships

The candidate must demonstrate a keen interest in low carbon design and take an active interest in the industry. The individual must also fulfil the following criteria:

  • Excellent communication skills and capable of presenting ideas clearly
  • Highly motivated, enthusiastic and ambitious
  • Actively working on their professional development
  • Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, Excel

It would be beneficial to have experience in other industry-related software packages such as:

  • AutoCAD
  • Hevacomp
  • National Building Specification (NBS)system
  • Revit
  • IES or TAS
