On 16 August, Dermot Barnes, Associate Director, was invited to be a guest speaker to talk about the central importance of retrofit in the net zero 2050 (solutions) mix at ‘Built Environment for the Future: Sandbox Session’.

Buro Happold and Allies and Morrison have created this cross-disciplinary network (BEF) for young professionals to learn together and champion sustainability by hosting a series of sessions and events to encourage Nextgen collaborations for climate action from people with a variety of backgrounds.

Prior to joining XCO2, Dermot was the Acting Sustainability Lead and Retrofit Manager at the London Borough of Sutton where he was responsible for leading one of the UK’s earliest net-zero social housing retrofit projects for 100 homes.
