We’re pleased to announce that Gardner Close and Fish Island Village have been shortlisted at this year’s Housing Design Awards.
Gardner Close, a Pocket Living scheme located in Wanstead, offers affordable 20 one-bedroom apartments within a 4-storey building for first time buyers working or living in the London Borough of Redbridge. XCO2 provided environmental, energy and sustainability guidance, as well as building services engineering from concept to completion. The scheme was completed in summer 2021.
Fish Island Village is a major brownfield regeneration project to the west of Hackney Wick in London. XCO2 were part of the design team for the mixed-use developments over different phases and across the years of its development, and collaborated closely with Stockwool, Haworth Tompkins, Pitman Tozer and Lyndon Goode Architects. XCO2 developed site-wide energy and sustainability strategies whilst carrying out a suite of environmental assessments including, daylight, sunlight and overshadowing as well as wind and microclimate assessments for submission to the local authority.
