The Gran Canaria Trade Fair by Infecar, which we worked on with LPA Studio, has been shortlisted for People’s Choice in the BREEAM Awards.

The innovative masterplan for Gran Canaria’s trade fair distinguishes itself from conventional trade fairs by focusing on outdoor areas, natural environments, and local landscaping. This regenerative approach not only addresses the potential impacts typically associated with such projects but also seeks to enhance the quality of life for both human and wildlife in the area.

As sustainability consultants, we conducted comprehensive analyses and proposed innovative solutions to significantly reduce carbon emissions. These solutions included the implementation of air source heat pumps (ASHP), a photovoltaic (PV) array covering an area of over 20,000m2, and the use of biogas from anaerobic digestion. These measures are projected to result in a 105% reduction in carbon emissions, potentially transforming the site into a net energy exporter.

In addition to this, we helped develop an energy and operational zero-carbon strategy to ensure the project would secure all the available credits under the relevant energy section for this BREEAM International Communities project.
