A team led by XCO2 has been chosen by London Borough of Hackney to develop proposals for 14 under-used plots on land currently occupied by garages, parking and unused properties.

The £100m scheme will provide 240 new homes – three quarters of which will be for social rent – and is part of a wider plan by Hackney Council to deliver 1,000 council homes over the next four years.

XCO2’s team has been appointed as the council’s multidisciplinary engineering consultant – providing a range of M&E and environmental design services – and includes Trigon Fire, SLR Consulting, Tim Moya Associates, Noise Solutions and CE Consultants. The team will work alongside architects including Haworth Tompkins, Archio, Al-Jawad Pike, Sergison Bates and Citizens Design Bureau.

Once the schemes have received planning, the council estimates construction work will begin in 2026.
