The Elephant and Castle regeneration masterplan encompasses 2,500 new homes, an extensive offering of commercial, community, and leisure spaces, and a major provision of retail, restaurants, bars and cafés. The development also includes significant infrastructure improvements to the area’s roads, public transport, and pedestrian and cycle routes. As part of the masterplan, the development will be providing London’s largest new park in 70 years.
The scheme is one of just 18 projects worldwide utilising the Clinton Climate Positive Development Program, an initiative that showcases best practice in order to implement a low-carbon approach to urban development, and is targeting net zero carbon growth.
This project received Commendation at the New London Awards 2014 in the ‘Masterplans and Area Strategies’ category.
