Fish Island occupies a strategic position between established communities in Tower Hamlets and is one of the largest and most exciting urban regeneration projects in Europe. Unprecedented resources were invested to develop the sports facilities and infrastructure to stage the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2012.
As part of the regeneration of the industrial area south of Hackney Wick station and between Regent’s Canal and River Lea, XCO2 were part of the design team for Neptune Wharf and Monier Road masterplans. The proposed schemes were mixed-use developments including residential and commercial areas as well as focused on creating a high quality urban environment.
XCO2 were involved in the project over different phases and across the years of its development and collaborated closely with Stockwool, Haworth Tompkins, Pitman Tozer and Lyndon Goode Architects to support their design in order to satisfy and exceed Local Legacy Development Corporation’s requirements and wider strategy.
XCO2 developed site-wide energy and sustainability strategies whilst carrying out a suite of environmental assessments as part of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) including, Daylight, Sunlight and Overshadowing as well as Microclimate (Wind) Assessments for submission to the local authority.
