Riverside Road provides much-needed temporary housing on an under-utilised brownfield site for Watford’s residents, helping to relieve the housing shortage.

Constructed using lightweight timber frames for sustainability and ease of construction, these five homes achieved a four-star rating after a Home Quality Mark assessment. The impact of fuel poverty on residents was a key consideration. Through the implementation of a highly airtight and insulated envelope, use of PVs, MVHR and ASHPs the homes will
provide an energy saving of 68.3% improvement over a Part L 2013 compliant development.

Riverside Road won the Richard Feilden Award for best social housing scheme at the Housing Design Awards 2023.
