XCO2 provided energy and sustainability consultancy for the extension and refurbishment of the Grade II* listed Victoria Palace Theatre located in London’s West End. Works to the Edwardian, 1500+ seat theatre include improvements to the front of house facilities, the refurbishment and extension of the stage and rehearsal facilities, and improvement of audience comfort with regard to heating and ventilation within the auditorium.
Improvements to the existing building fabric were infeasible due to the listed status of the Theatre. It was ensured that all new build elements of the proposed extension will meet u-values beyond building regulation requirements. In addition, the installation of a new heating and cooling plant significantly improves the energy performance of the development when compared to the existing building.
