We’re delighted to announce that Studio City Phase 2, a landmark integrated resort development in Cotai, Macau, has achieved a BREEAM “Excellent” rating for New Construction in 2025.
This 250,000sqm expansion comprises two hotel towers offering around 900 rooms and suites, positioned above a podium that incorporates retail, a cineplex, and Macau’s only indoor water park. The project represents a bold step forward in sustainable hospitality and entertainment.
XCO2 acted as the project’s sustainability consultant and BREEAM assessor. Our team played a key role in developing and implementing the sustainability strategy, which included façade optimisation studies and building services load profiling, all contributing to the project’s outstanding environmental performance.
This recognition builds on a strong track record: the development received the ‘Regional Award, Asia’ at the BREEAM Awards 2021, celebrating its sustainability ambitions and alignment with Melco’s carbon neutrality and zero waste goals. In 2022, it also earned the highest rating in the Chinese Green Building Label scheme with a 3-Stars Design Label.
