We are thrilled that The Wilds Ecology Centre has won the 2023 regional RIBA London Award.
The Wilds Ecology Centre is a multi-purpose community, ecology and events space within the Barking Riverside masterplan on the banks of the Thames in East London. Set within a new 29-hectare ecology park, it also accommodates an innovative underground waste system – the largest Envac station in the UK.
XCO2 were appointed to carry out building services design, from RIBA Stage 1 through to construction support, and energy and sustainability consultancy. The XCO2 environmental team also completed the BREEAM pre-assessment and carried out the post-construction BREEAM assessment, for which it achieved an ‘Excellent’ rating.
