XCO2 is celebrating International Women in Engineering Day today, an awareness campaign organised by the Women’s Engineering Society, which raises the profile of women in engineering and focuses attention on the amazing career opportunities available to women and girls in this industry.
We value diversity and equality and are proud to have a high percentage of incredible women on our engineering teams (38%) compared to the UK average of only 12%. 44% of our company are women, which is also high for this industry.
We asked some of our engineers what inspired them to become an engineer and what they love about their job.
Sherleen Pang, Associate: “I love being able to make a positive impact to planet earth!”
Cinthia Espino, Senior Sustainability Consultant: “My engineering hero is my dad, who showed me that engineering can be both challenging and fun!”
Louise Wille, Associate: “I became an engineer because I am passionate about creating beautiful and comfortable sustainable buildings and environments for people to occupy and interact with. My engineering hero is Hedy Lamarr. Without her, there would be no wireless communication, and I just hate cable spaghetti!”
