Laura joined XCO2 in 2013. As the Practice Manager, she has oversight over all commercial aspects of the Company including accounts, finance, Human Resources, Health and Safety, company policy and the day-to-day management of the core operational functions of the Company both in the London and the Singapore offices.

Laura is from a creative background and is passionate about building and maintaining a positive and productive work culture for a team that can thrive. She was at the forefront in creating both XCO2’s Social and Culture Committee and well as the recently established Mental Health Committee.

Louise joined XCO2 in June 2021 as Associate in one of our Sustainability teams. She studied Architectural Engineering at the Technical University of Denmark, graduating with a Bachelor’s degree and further completed an MSc in Engineering.

Louise has over 10 years’ experience and is an expert in delivering energy and sustainability strategies, whole life carbon assessments, circular economy strategies, planning applications, BREEAM and other environmental assessments. Working on listed heritage buildings is of particular interest, as well as developing net zero carbon strategies for projects across all scales and sectors.

Louise is a qualified BREEAM Commercial Assessor, Certified European Passivhaus Designer and a Chartered Energy Engineer with the Energy Institute.

Mark joined XCO2 in June 2021 as an Associate, leading one of the M&E teams. He has a Higher National Certificate in Building Surveying/ Construction Management from the University of Greenwich and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers. Mark has over 15 years’ experience working in the Building Services Design industry undertaking work across numerous sectors including educational, residential, commercial, hotels, sports and leisure, and museums.

Mark has a solid foundation in Mechanical and Public Health Services Design, ensuring current industry regulations are adhered to. He is interested in problem-solving and providing robust, bespoke solutions to problems at hand, whilst trying to tackle climate change by ensuring carbon reductions are at the forefront of design, utilising innovative technologies.

Matthew is a Mechanical Engineer with 15+ years’ experience in design, operation, and on-site construction management. He has developed his technical capability in building services engineering through gaining specialist experience in aspects of sustainability and green building design and construction.

His sustainability experience covers building energy modelling and the design, installation and operation of both energy efficient and renewable energy systems to achieve compliance with regional and international green building schemes such as Estidama, BREEAM, and LEED.

Matthew is a CIBSE member as well as accredited as an Estidama PQP, having passed the Estidama Pearl Qualified Professional (Buildings) exam. His project experience covers a diverse range of residential, infrastructure, industrial, retail, leisure, healthcare, education, and pharmaceutical projects for major government and private clients in the UAE and UK.

Sara is an Associate Director with extensive cross-sector experience as designer, consultant and lecturer. Her background includes low carbon and Passivhaus design and construction, Post Occupancy Evaluation monitoring and report, Building Regulations compliance assessment and Energy and Environmental strategy.

A registered architect with a Master’s in Architecture from University of Lisbon and a MSc Environmental Design and Engineering from University College of London, Sara is committed to reducing the environmental impact of the construction industry and creating healthier environments. She is an advocate of Building Performance Evaluation and member of the CIBSE Young Energy Performance Group.

Sara also has a strong interest in Learning and Education and is a lecturer at the University of Suffolk, where she leads the Design Technology module. Previously, she has also collaborated with the UK Green Building Council in the development of the new Learning and Development educational program. She has a passion for travel and has lived in Portugal, Norway, Japan before moving to the UK.

Ray is a Mechanical Engineering Consultant with over a decade of experience. He manages some of XCO2’s largest engineering projects in the UK and abroad.

Having spent 8 years of his professional career in the Middle East, Ray has extensive experience in designing high-profile buildings and large masterplans in a variety of sectors, from hotels, high rise, commercial and retail through to industrial. He is interested in advanced building performance modelling and energy-efficient mechanical systems design.

Ray counts among his qualifications, LEED AP for Building Design and Construction and Interior Design and Construction, and Estidama Pearl Qualified Professional.

Starting with XCO2 in April 2017, Tom joined as an Associate Electrical Engineer. He leads one of XCO2’s multidiscipline M&E teams, previously heading up the company’s electrical team.

Having gained a Master’s in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Nottingham University, Tom began his career in building services engineering in 2006 and has gained comprehensive experience through working on major national and international projects across a variety of sectors.

Tom enjoys the mix of design based tasks and on-site activities that building services offers, and the focus on new and emerging technologies and their implementation within the buildings of today.

Angela joined XCO2 in September 2021 as a Senior Sustainability Consultant. She originally studied a BSc in Architecture at Queen’s University Belfast (QUB) however, after graduating, realised her interests lie within the sustainability side of the construction industry. From this, she then completed an MSc in Sustainable Design at QUB.

She started off her journey as an OCDEA assessor before moving onto the role of a BREEAM assessor for UK Non-domestic NC projects and BREEAM AP. Since joining XCO2, she has passed the Domestic Refurbishment and the Non-domestic Refurbishment exam.

Angela enjoys liaising with clients and design team members to achieve the best possible performance of assessed buildings. She also has a keen interest in incorporating circular economy principles into projects she is working on and carrying out embodied carbon assessments.

Angus graduated with a BSc in Environmental Science from the University of Plymouth. After graduating he took part in a 10-week volunteering expedition in Malaysian Borneo with Raleigh International, where he gained experience in sustainable development work such as improving access to education and clean water in isolated communities.

Before joining XCO2, Angus worked within the Building Research Establishment’s Sustainable Products team helping to deliver certification to the BES6001 -Responsible Sourcing Scheme. as well as Lifecycle Carbon Assessments which helped to develop his keen interest in the importance of Sustainable Procurement and Embodied Carbon.

During his time at XCO2 he hopes to gain further experience in developing Whole Lifecycle Carbon Assessments for buildings and believes it is important to always consider other critical issues such as Operational Energy Use and Material Circularity when considering strategies for reducing the Embodied Carbon impact of a built asset.

Chris is a Chartered Engineer. His academic qualifications include MSc Sustainable Buildings and Environments from Newcastle University’s School of Architecture, Planning & Landscape and a 5-year MEng Architectural Engineering degree.

Chris has gained experience in the sustainability & engineering sector by working both in Greece and the UK. He gained industry experience by working as an Architect and Sustainability Consultant in the sustainability sector.

Besides his strong energy management and energy profile interpretation knowledge, Chris is a Senior Consultant with strong technical knowledge and experience on a vast variety of sustainability strategies. These include carbon emission reduction for building applications incorporating health and well-being strategies both new and existing buildings. Chris has undertaken training and is certified Level 3, 4 & 5 Energy Assessor for commercial buildings.

Jack studied Environmental Sciences at university but gained experience within the built environment on a sandwich placement between 2014 and 2015 due to a keen interest in energy and has never looked back. Jack has worked within the industry full-time since 2017 on primarily residential-led schemes.

He is a keen and quick learner and since joining XCO2 has already expanded his knowledge of retrofit, SBEM calculations, embodied carbon and WLC assessments and Circular Economy Statements.

Jack’s interests are centred within net zero carbon strategies and environmental design guidance; including energy modelling plus environmental and sustainability statements. However, he is eager to bring Passivhaus into his repertoire and progress his understanding of renewable technologies as these have always interested him.

Having worked on the tools for 5 years as an electrician’s mate,  Marvin found the design process fascinating and completed a BEng in Electrical and Electronic Engineering with a Building Services arm in 2011. Since then, he has honed his design skill on residential and mixed-use buildings as well as commercial buildings and places of worship.

Marvin’s interests within the M&E world lie in Revit and developing technologies i.e. battery storage and integrated systems.

Megan is a Principal Mechanical Engineering Consultant who studied a BSc in Mechanical Engineering at University College Dublin before undertaking a Master’s in Energy Systems Engineering. Megan is a Chartered Engineer through CIBSE.

Megan has worked on a wide range of projects including various residential schemes, commercial offices, hotels, student accommodation and modular projects. She has a keen interest in hotel projects, private island design, and bespoke residential schemes with particular focus on sustainability and energy-efficient mechanical systems design.

She also presented her research on ‘BIM to Building Energy Performance Simulation: An Evaluation of Current Transfer Processes’ at the BS2019 conference in Rome which has since been published as a conference paper.

Nick is an Electrical Engineer with extensive experience in building services design for commercial and residential applications.

His diverse professional background includes solar energy installations for private and commercial use in Greece, as well as electrical design and commissioning for industrial buildings in Saudi Arabia.

Having recently graduated with a BSc in Physics from the University of Warwick, Tomas joined XCO2 in the summer of 2018 as a sustainability consultant. Whilst there, his focused quickly turned to thermal systems and renewable energy production.

Tomas primarily carries out daylight, sunlight and overshadowing simulations, SAP and SBEM calculations along with overheating assessments for residential scale developments.

He believes balance between a theoretical and empirical approach is key to efficient design in built up environments. During his time at XCO2 he hopes to gain experience in developing passive design strategies while also exploring the potential of renewable technologies in a modern urban context.

Tom is a Senior Sustainability Consultant with over 5 years’ experience in the construction industry, carrying out a range of sustainability services for domestic and non-domestic projects across the UK.

His expertise includes using IES VE software to carry out dynamic simulation modelling including energy assessments, thermal comfort and passive design analysis. Tom also has significant experience carrying out SAP and SBEM calculations for Part L compliance and planning stage reports. Proficient in the use of environmental assessment tools including One Click LCA and eTool, he is also able to carry out embodied & whole life carbon assessments.

Tom became a Chartered Environmentalist with IEMA in June 2022 and is committed to further developing his sustainability knowledge, with a key interest in whole life carbon and net zero carbon strategies.

Originally trained as a civil engineer in Greece, Zach went on to complete a Master’s in Renewable Energy Systems Engineering with the University of Surrey. With almost 10 years of experience in the construction industry, he collaborates with architects and clients to develop energy and sustainability strategies from concept to construction stage across the residential and commercial sectors.

He specialises in detailed thermal modelling and building physics, energy strategies from early stages of the design, renewables feasibility, wider sustainability assessments, building regulations compliance, overheating analysis to improve the design of buildings and reduce energy consumption. Zach has expertise that spans from planning applications and early stages of the design of new developments to new construction and decarbonisation of existing buildings.

Having graduated his Master’s with First Class Honours in 2015, Aidan went began his career as a Mechanical Engineer following a summer spent organising a music festival in Hong Kong. As an early adopter of new digital design tools, he soon became fluent in all aspects of BIM, from early stage concept modelling, 3D system design with integrated analysis, clash detection, visual programming and the procedures required to fulfil the requirements of BIM Level 2 projects.

As the lead of digital engineering at XCO2, Aidan monitors the quality of our digital output to ensure that we deliver to a consistent high quality across all projects and in accordance with agreed programme and relevant project specific standards. He has a keen interest in the digitalisation of the construction industry and adoption of process technologies underpinned by BIM. He works on both project delivery and the standardisation/teaching of BIM within XCO2.

He is a current member of the CIBSE Society of Digital Engineering Steering Group, working with leads from other consultancies to help to improve the proliferation of digital engineering tools and drive standardisation across the industry.

Alice joined XCO2 in August 2022 as a Sustainability and Energy Consultant. Following completion of her undergraduate degree at the University of Liverpool, Alice moved to Bristol to join a small environmental consultancy with a focus on Environmental Accreditation schemes.

Following this, Alice spent two years working for a mechanical & electrical engineering company, specialising in large-scale industrial units. As part of the sustainability team, she predominantly produced energy statements for planning and ensured that all projects met Part L compliance and adhered with all planning policy relating to energy and sustainability.

Since joining XCO2, Alice has conducted Energy and Overheating Assessments using IES VE and SAP. In addition to expanding her knowledge to domestic projects, she is looking to learn more about whole life-cycle carbon, passive design, and net zero carbon.

Starting with XCO2 in March 2016, Daniela joined as a CAD technician and working alongside enthusiastic and experienced engineers she soon made the transition to the M&E design team. Since then, she has gained comprehensive experience as an electrical engineer, working on major national and international projects across a variety of sectors.

Her main interests are in smart building solutions, energy-efficient system design and in the digitalisation of the construction industry, having gained experience in using a broad range of design software packages.

Jack is a Senior Mechanical Engineer, who joined XCO2 in July 2021. He graduated from RMIT University in Melbourne, Australia with a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering and has completed an MSc in Building Services Engineering at London South Bank University.

Jack’s interests lie in sustainable engineering solutions, with an aim to reduce carbon emissions as far as practicable. He is an expert in residential mechanical and public health systems, including design and on-site commissioning witnessing. Jack is now working towards becoming a chartered engineer with CIBSE.

Lewis joined XCO2 in 2022 as a Sustainability Consultant in the Environmental team. A registered Architect, he has previously worked in architectural practices across the UK with sustainability champion roles, before transitioning full-time into the sustainability sector with XCO2. His expertise includes passive architectural design, embodied carbon, and circular economy strategies across projects from the masterplan scale to the building scale in designing for adaptability and disassembly.

Lewis has a keen interest in designing for health and wellbeing, and became a WELL AP in 2022. He is interested in the detail of energy-efficient construction through Passivhaus and Enerphit, and has experience working on heritage/listed buildings through architectural practice.

Lynn joined XCO2 in June 2019 as an intern, after graduating from Kingston University with a Master’s of Engineering in Aerospace Engineering, Astronautics & Space Technology, and became a consultant in September 2019.

She is particularly interested in the integration of renewable energy systems and analysing the major contributing factors to the increase in the production of carbon. Lynn carries out daylight, sunlight and overshadowing simulations and SAP calculations and is aiming to increase her knowledge on the various environmental assessments conducted at XCO2.

Raquel is a Mechanical Engineer with experience in the building services industry, working within the commercial, residential and retail sectors. She has gained much of her knowledge from her on-site roles.

Prior to beginning her career in building services, Raquel worked in the renewable energy sector, primarily in the high-end domestic market.

Raquel has an MSc in Industrial Engineering, specialising in energy and fluid dynamics and she is an ACIBSE candidate.

Sharon joined XCO2 in October 2021 and was promoted to Senior Engineer in January 2023. She graduated from the University of Hong Kong with a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and a Master’s in Building Services Engineering.

Prior to joining XCO2, Sharon worked in Dubai for a 2-month secondment which boosted her interest to work aboard and move to the UK.

Sharon’s experience includes electrical design for high-rise buildings, retail complexes, mega-scale hotels and resorts in Hong Kong and Macau.
