Amanwana is a luxury resort located on Moyo Island, Indonesia. This exclusive property comprises of 20 tent villas, restaurant, spa facility and dive centre. The remote location necessitates that the property generate its own power, water and provide waste management.

The resort was constructed approximately 20 years prior and although well maintained, the management team recognised that the property would benefit from an external specialist review. XCO2 were tasked with completing an audit (ASHRAE L2) of the infrastructure, MEP services and building fabric of the accommodation, facilities and back-of-house areas. The goal being to identify opportunities to improve operation and reduce running costs.

A comprehensive site visit was completed to assess the design, condition and operation for the MEP systems. Working closely with the facilities management team, XCO2 were able to quickly identify the areas for improvement and better understand the constraints.

The study developed a site-wide energy and sustainability strategy that identified system modifications/upgrades and quantified the return on investment (ROI) for Aman. One of the key outcomes was the recommendation to employ a hybrid generator-battery-photovoltaic system, which when implemented is projected to produce diesel fuel savings of over 15%. XCO2 also completed thermal modelling on the tent villas to assess the impact of improvements to the building fabric on internal comfort and air-conditioning loads.
