Six Senses’ first mainland China resort sits on the foothills of the Qing Cheng mountain region, UNESCO World Heritage & Natural Cultural site, home of the Giant Pandas and where the Silk Road began. XCO2 were involved leading the energy and environmental strategy from concept to completion for this resort consisting of 113 villas with strong sustainability goals.
Working closely with the design team and using the latest advanced modelling software, we helped the architects integrate energy efficiency measures into the design to greatly reduce energy consumption during future operation, by 40% when combined with efficient systems.
Water consumption will be reduced by 30% through wastewater reuse. Our measures also had the positive effect of reducing peak loads on site, which in turn reduced the necessary sizing of plant, resulting in capital costs savings in addition to the operational ones.
Addressing the project’s LEED certification ambitions, XCO2 carried out detailed cost-benefit analysis of each credit to inform the decision of the targets and credit choices. This allowed the developers to achieve their goals at the lowest possible cost.
